Sam Tillen was pleased as his side showed their attacking prowess in a thrilling 4-4 draw with Hartlepool United on Friday.

The penultimate game of the season was a goal-fest for City’s U18s, with Bola Okewoye in great form. The young forward bagged a brace, while Zane Okoro and Russell Berko also got their names on the scoresheet.

Tillen praised his team’s attacking display, highlighting the threat Okewoye had in the final third throughout the game.

He said: “We continued to be very potent attacking unit, but unfortunately we couldn’t defend our lead in the second half.

“In the first-half I felt we had more possession while showing some good quality, while Bola Okewoye was a real threat, and overall we looked more solid defensively.

“In the second half, a change in personnel which forced an alteration to our shape and we lost our defensive solidity. We looked extremely potent in attack, but the game became stretched and it was too end to end for my liking.”

Tillen went on to single out individuals including midfielder Denny Oliver, while also praising U15 Josh Kennealey, who started his second game in a row for the young Imps.

He continued: “Denny Oliver had a another good showing, and U15 Josh Kennealey impressed again, starting his second consecutive game for the U18s.”
